Got a CRT TV with a power supply failure that is too complicated or expensive to repair? Get one of these one-size-fits-all Universal TV PSUs. They provide the necessary voltages to power up all of the TV's internal circuits, just disable the original PSU, wire the replacement in and find some place inside the set to hold the board in place. Your TV will come back to life! In this video I show you how I got a 21" Panasonic that survived last year's 8.8 earthquake back to life with one of these universal supplies. The switching transformer was cracked making repair a complicated and expensive affair. Fitting the universal PSU to replace the main B+ supply got it working and saved me quite a bit of money and headaches! I got this particular model locally from www.cm2.cl Here's the very same one from an online distributor tinyurl.com

www.microchip.com Walk through the basics of a charge pump circuit. Each components significance is highlighted using a series of slides that show both the schematic and output waveforms. Next, a pulse train is applied to the circuit to create a voltage doubler. Intelligence is later incorporated using a comparator peripheral on a PIC Microcontroller to regulate output voltage. All equations required to build the circuit are discussed as well as derivations and importance. Finally, using the same components, a voltage inverter is created to show some alternate configurations.

Read Here: I have several previous videos that lead up to this video about simple and cheap laser communication. The system up to this point shown in the video works great for transmitting audio/sound/music via a laser beam. Give your friends a reciever to put in their window and you can transmit some audio to them, as long as they are within range, line of sight and/or mirrors can "bend" the laser beam. Unlike other methods of communication, no transmission wires, license or other hassles come with this method. Disclaimer: There is no need to look into the direct laser beam since it can damage your eyes or someone elses. Still, if complete sound input isolation is needed from the laser communicator circuit, you can try a 1 to 1 transformer, or two 8 to 1000 ohm ones connected together to where the primary is 8 ohms and the final secondary is 8 ohms. If you cant find or contruct a 50K fixed resistor, you can just use a more common 47K resistor. I think it's better to have some adjustability to Rb for various reasons. So then, perhaps a 50K variable in series with say 33K (to prevent your pot from getting dammaged, etc) or something. The next step is to transmit and successfully receive digital computer data with the laser communicator system. I will try the KCS (Kansas City Standard) scheme, but there are others, and I'm not sure what would work the best, assuming at least one method will work though. The clothespin attached to the laser is to apply pressure like a clamp ...

I found this TV at an estate sale today....it has a new replacement RCA black matrix CRT but there is a problem in the high voltage regulator circuit so there is no HV at the CRT. I checked the horizontal output circuit by holding a neon lamp near the plate lead and it does glow. Need to check out the 6BK4 grid-cathode circuit.

Pretty much repairing a Kenwood audio/video Receiver VR-606, at first bought it thinking it was bad voltage regulator, turn out to test good, so their was no reason for the display not to work and ended up remembering see a video from "uxwbill" on one of his "table repairs" and him having the same problem and it was the same problem, cracked solder joints around the deplay driver IC. Will resolder it and test further and clean receiver.

Parallel Connection of Voltage Stabilizers. Circuit Engineering. A voltage stabilizer is the primary basis of today's power supply sources. Its technical characteristics determine the functionality of radio electronics. The circuits of different stabilizers are engineered in a variety of different ways with each option having its own peculiarities and parameters. Integrated voltage stabilizers have gained the widest popularity. Power supply units based on these devices are described by the low number of additional electronic components, relatively low cost and efficient characteristics. The majority of radio electronics operate off of power supply units with an increased sourcing current. One of the options for using integrated stabilizers in power supply units is a voltage stabilizer with microchips connected in parallel. Let's look at how such stabilizers work using different examples and considering individual basic circuits. This circuit uses two microchips KPEH5. The operational amplifier DA1 rectifies the drop in voltage at R1 and R2 resistors. The output voltage of the amplifier that is supplied to output 2 of DA2 microchip affects the latter's operation in such a way that the current flowing through it becomes equal to the current flowing through DA3. That's why the overall peak current is added. To avoid the increase in output voltage of the stabilizer without a load we use a ballast - R6. This stabilizer is used with a load that consumes up to 6A. And this is ...

In some previous experiments,I found that a voltage regulator can be used as an oscillator so I tried an unregulated 3v-12v wall adapter and ended up with a circuit that works and it can be used as an exciter in conjunction with a 10uH wire wound axial inductor. It will light lots of leds and will light a neon all at a fairly low amp draw. Updated circuit and inductor details img194.imageshack.us uk.farnell.com

(Joel Dingman): It's a good day to make electricity at Dry Fork Station. (Tom Stalcup): There it is. We just synced. The Dry Fork Station has been synced to the transmission grid. That means electricity is flowing from the plant for the very first time. Crews have dedicated a lot of time and energy preparing for major milestones like this one. It's all part of getting the plant ready for commercial operation. (Tom Stalcup): Friday morning we rolled the turbine for the first time. We had several valve tests we had to run; we had to test the emergency lube oil system. We had to test the emergency trip system. We did all of that over Friday and Saturday and towards the end of the day on Saturday, about half way through I guess, we started working on the AVR which is the auto voltage regulator. The auto voltage regulator is what controls the voltage on the generator, which is how the plant actually syncs to the grid. (Tom): Then we did a dummy synchronization. What we did is we left the disconnects, the line side disconnects open on the generator breaker and then we first manually synced, by closing the generator breakers, but it wasn't connected to the transmission system so it had no power output and then once we proved that then we proved the auto-synchronization. (Tom): "Let's roll the turbine." For the actual sync, crews roll the turbine and increase its rotations per minute to 3600, increasing about 360 rpms every minute. Then with the click of a mouse, electricity is ...

This is a demonstration of a "Minimum Theremin" electronic project that I got from Art's Minimum Theremin website. It is very simple to build and uses 2 hex inverter IC chips. Other components include resistors, electrolytic and ceramic capacitors, and 2 trim pots (variable potentiometers). I used a pie plate as an antenna and hope to improve it by finding a better antenna. The original design used a 9 VDC battery and a 5 VDC voltage regulator TO5 chip but I had a regulated 5 V power supply handy and substituted that.
