LM317T Voltage Regulator with Pass Transistor

Kohler 10 HP driving a eBay 7.5 KW 4-pole generator. The engine is set at 3400 RPM max torque curve, generator is running 1800 RPM for 60 HZ. A homemade voltage regulator is installed not shown. The generator does pretty well, so does the engine. It looks like we are able to get about 5000 watts, stable. At 7500 watts, the voltage falls too low and the frequency falls to 42 HZ. At 10 KW the engine is totally overloaded. 5KW is respectable. Generator has about 50 hours on it and seems to be holding up okay.

My Ford Bronco Ranger XLT with Ford 400 engine in it. I've since pulled this engine and replaced it with a moderately built Ford 460. This 400 has an Edelbrock Streetmaster 400 intake manifold, Holley 4 barrel 650 CFM carb, full-length headers, dual 3" exhaust, and an otherwise stock engine / drivetrain. Stock ignition, distributor, C6 automatic transmission, NP 205 transfer case, heads, cam, etc (As far as I know). This video is part 2 of 2 - see part 1 for a shorter video of just the engine running - no electric radiator fan noise.Note: this video was created primarily for myself as a comparison between engines (Before and after the swap - I'll post the new engine videos as soon as I can). Yes, the engine rattles at certain RPMs - I think the main bearings are shot. Engine runs fine otherwise - no oil leaks and doesn't burn oil.

DMX 12-24v Lighting Controller with manual control mounted in a military case with bulkhead or chasy mount style connectors. Manual control circut switch is intigrated into the "pluging it in" so theres no switch to break. You plug it in it powers the voltage regulator on to give proper voltage to go through the pot and then returned for the analogue control. This is just a prototype there will be future revisions such as making it better looking inside mabe even multiple units in a larger housing weel see where it goes.
