PWM Brightness Adjustment

This is a PWM (pulse width modulation) circuit board I made for a friend's CB 750 LED tail light retrofit. It uses a 555 timer and a Sharp 12V regulator. It will be used to power 40 Lumileds Superflux LEDs.

Basic Voltage Regulator.

Beware. Do NOT short the output or load the output transistor too hard. It will blow up. Use a good heat sink. Transistors like MJE182 or MJE340 with gain over 50, are suitable.

Second video. This is a microcontroller driven led mod with low voltage alarm, for silverlit xtwin (super light rc airplanes). It is a work in progress. The item shown is crude lab prototype on a breadboard. probably only interesting to those who knows what it is. The ic to the left is a voltage regulator to drive the circuit. The ic to the right is a microcontroller, programmed to blink a white, red and green led in a certain pattern. The microcontroller also monitors the battery voltage and changes the blinking pattern if the voltage drops below a certain threshold. This way the pilot can be alerted in time and land safely before the battery dies. The state of this project is ready. The finished prototype can be seen below the breadboard, the small pcb with three wires coming from it.

Testing my V-MATE 640x480 recorder. Took my foam Radio Controlled plane (Super Lightning), put a camera on board, and ran it through an Eagle Tree OSD with real time GPS! The flight is very quick as it was only to test the San Disk V-MATE record quality. I am powering it via a 11.4v steped down to 6v using a cheap ebay voltage regulator.

Micro-controller interfacing circuit contains power supply, 16F877A PIC, voltage regulator 7805, 10KΩ resistors for the input ports, 330Ω resistors for the output ports. Two transistors C5476 BJT NPN type were added -as a switch- to the drive circuit for the two drive systems to let the PIC activate the relay coil. PIC used for main drive system to control direction and position of the car automaticaly. For main drive system, PIC was programmed to have seven input ports and two out ports. The seven input ports were connected to four magnetic switches and three pushbuttons. The two output ports connected to the Bases of two BJTs in the drive circuit, one to move the car upward and the other to move the car downward. Before connecting the interfacing circuit to the input switches and the main motor, it had been tested on a laboratory breadboard and connected to a DC Wiper motor.
