Video showing the difference in the power consumption between a linear voltage regulator and a switching voltage regulator. The 'switcher' is a TL2575HV in a TO22x package. Both regulators are 'bucking' 13.5VDC to 5VDC. The difference is like that between day and night. Enjoy
